I heard that Filipinos have a special love for basketball. Can you tell me why basketball is so popular in the Philippines and how it became a beloved sport in the whole country?

Basketball creates friendships and enhances teamwork, not to mention that in every barangay there is an open court for everyone to use. Since Filipinos love competition and to prove themselves they often visit this along with friends and family, which could also be considered bonding.

For me, it’s the accessibility of the game, whatever place or barangay you’re in, there will always be basketball courts.

At the barangay, school, neighbor’s house, subdivision, farm field, coconut field, and in the streets, there is always a basketball ring.
