I usually spend the holiday with my family, either celebrating at our home or at a relative’s home. However, sometimes we love to take a vacation out of town.

In the Philippines, Christmas is one of the most anticipated and joyous occasions of the year, and the celebrations begin as early as September. The month of December in the country is filled with colorful decorations, vibrant parades, and cheerful gatherings. Filipinos attend midnight masses called “Simbang Gabi” to commemorate the birth of Jesus, and families exchange gifts during the festive season. Delicious feasts, known as “Noche Buena,” are prepared, where loved ones gather to indulge in traditional Filipino dishes like lechon, sticky rice cakes, and bibingka. Carolers sing Christmas songs in different neighborhoods, and children go house-to-house to ask for “aguinaldo,” a small monetary gift. Indeed, the Filipino Christmas celebration is a fusion of religious customs, cultural traditions, and warm familial love, making it truly special and unique.

Just the typical Christmas with different colors of lights hung in other parts of the house, lanterns, a Christmas tree at the center, and foods that we get to eat together at midnight.
