Traditional Vs. Digital?
Posted by trish on March 7, 2023 at 1:05 amHi guys! As a creative graphic designer, in which way do you prefer to start your piece? Personally, I start with a messy sketch on paper then refine and finish it digitally. I find that sketching on paper works better for creating initial drafts. How ’bout you? ☺️

I start with a messy sketch on paper too. There’s just something about the feeling of a pencil on paper that can’t be matched. However, I really love how simple it is to edit and send my work digitally.
It’s like having the best of both worlds!😅
-
Same! Maybe you just do the concept on paper and then do the rest digitally as well? It’s a lot more effective in my opinion.

I prefer using digital since I used paint or canva as a sketch to create sample ideas for design then after I go to adobe to reach the climax of my imagination to build it.
-
Ahh! Yeah, Canva does have great clipart and templates you can build from. Maybe I’ll give that technique a go next time 🤔

Traditional art helps me express and sketch all of my ideas a lot, but digital art has the edge when it comes to materials that are easy to use and free.
They both help me make art, but digital art is my top pick.
-
I understand. Digital art is a lot more efficient and cost-effective. ☺️

Both have its pros and cons, but personally I prefer Digital since you can create both the prototype of the design and final design in one place. It’s just convenient to use.
-
I see! I guess the process is a lot more seamless rather since it’s all in once place. 🤔

I would probably start and end it using digital technology, haha. Not that I don’t like the traditional way, I still appreciate it. However, for me, using digital tools helps me refine my ideas while making them
-
No, I totally understand! It’s a lot more seamless when working digitally. Plus it has a lot of tools that make the concept design stage easier. ☺️

when it comes to the question “Traditional or Digital?”, I’d say “It depends upon the budget”, and right now I’m low on budget so I stay with digital.
but I actually start my piece inside my head and just directly put the idea on my digital canvas. And tweak some concepts/styles/techniques as I go.

I totally understand this sentiment 😭 Digital is a lot more cost-effective.

I’m not good at graphics design, but if I were to start in that field I would start to sketch things first and finish them digitally. Sketching for me gives you better ideas and freedom. When I sketch I get this sort of “freedom” and new ideas just pop into my head, but I guess digital sketches work too, but I haven’t tried that yet.
-
I totally understand! It’s a lot freer than when working digitally. You should give the digital way a go too ☺️

As a beginner in graphic designing, I am more comfortable using Digital because of its flexibility in making changes and edits
-
That’s totally understandable! You’ll get a hang of it soon. Good luck ☺️

I prefer digital because digital art can be easily edited and replicated making it a more efficient and practical choice for many projects. I am comfortable using it.
-
I understand! There are a lot of digital tools that’s super helpful ☺️

The choice between traditional and digital methods is subjective and can vary based on personal preferences, project requirements, and individual working styles. The key is to find a process that allows you to unleash your creativity and achieve the desired outcome effectively.
-
I prefer digital because it allows me to experiment more easily and make quick revisions
-
i prefer traditional than digital because for me traditional was more detailed than digital.

I find it rather time-consuming to sketch, then continuously build up on the design; I prefer digital because it is uncomplicated and quick to use!
