As for my research Yes, ChatGPT has a character limit even though it’s not officially documented anywhere?

I asked ChatGPT about this, and it answered: “As an AI language model, I don’t have a strict maximum limit on the length of the text prompt that I can handle. However, it’s worth noting that the longer the prompt is, the more difficult it may be for me to generate a relevant and coherent response. A shorter and more focused prompt is generally preferred as it allows ChatGPT to better understand the context and provide a more accurate and useful response.“
Personally, based from my own experience, at first I used to give ChatGPT short and unclear prompts, and I was getting frustrated because it doesn’t give me the exact answer / response I need. So I tried to make it longer, I paste a long paragraph and based my prompts on that paragraph, however, yes it gives me an elaborate response but it’s still not that exact. So, I tried to explore it, and then I realized that what works best is to give it a concise prompts, not too short, and not too long, just the right amount of words but the context and the purpose of the prompt is there.

As for my experience, there is no known limit on how long your prompts could be, but sometimes when you don’t use good wording on your commands, ChatGPT tends to get lost in translation and provide a wrong output. You have to try and try until you get used to giving an effective prompt.

yes, there is a limit to the amount of text that may be used as a prompt in ChatGPT. The model’s particular implementation and the tools available to parse the text will both have an impact on the prompt’s maximum duration.
