• Remote Work and Cybersecurity: Risks and Best Practices

Posted by lemueljohn on March 16, 2023 at 8:58 am

As remote work becomes more widespread, employers must be mindful of the cybersecurity risks connected with this work arrangement. Remote employees may be more exposed to cyber assaults because they use personal devices or public Wi-Fi networks that are less secure than workplace networks. Organizations may reduce these risks by following best practices such as employing secure communication and collaboration platforms, giving cybersecurity awareness training, instituting strong password restrictions, and routinely upgrading software and security procedures.

Question: What are some examples of secure communication and collaboration solutions that businesses may employ to defend themselves from cybersecurity threats in a remote work environment?

There are many ways to secure communication and collaboration while remote working. One of these ways is using a Virtual Private Network “VPN”, which provides a secure and encrypted connection for remote employees to access company resources. Video Conferencing platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams can also be used to secure communication and collaboration between employees and employers, as they have features that can protect against cyber threats.

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security by requiring users to provide a second form of identification, like a code sent to their phone, in addition to their password.
