What to do if you feel isolated or disconnected while working remotely?
Posted by Yna on March 7, 2023 at 8:41 amThis is one of the real challenges when working from home, but here are the things or some strategies that you can use to stay connected with your colleagues:
1. Use collaboration tools and work on projects together in real time or use Google Meet. Two heads (or more) are better than one!
2. I know reaching out and asking for help is hard especially when you’re not that close or familiar with your colleagues yet, but trust me when I say it’s worth it as long as you reach out to the right ones who can support you and lend you an ear (I’m all ears too!).Feel free to share your strategies too!

Whenever I feel like this I get up and go for a walk and get some fresh air, just to relax and recalibrate myself.

I agree! Getting some fresh air to clear your mind first really helps you relax and also improves your decision-making skills!

I know how tough it can be to work from home and feel disconnected from the world around you. It can be hard to stay motivated and focused when you feel like you’re on your own.
Here are some tips that might help:
- Stay connected with your colleagues
- Take breaks and get outside
- Get involved in online communities
- Set boundaries and stick to them
- Be kind to yourself

I like the last one, “be kind to yourself”. We should take care and consider ourselves and our thoughts first by getting enough sleep and getting the breaks that we deserve.

Thanks for sharing these tips, Yna! Collaboration tools and real-time project work can definitely help keep remote teams connected and engaged. And you’re absolutely right that it can be tough to ask for help, but sometimes it’s necessary, and reaching out to the right colleagues can make all the difference.

I totally agree with you! Additionally, talking to colleagues would also be a big help. Talking to people who you can relate to or in a similar situation as you really helps. You can share with each other your feelings and sentiments.

take a break for 5mins, and get back focused. you can also ask for help 🙂

Maintain a structured daily routine to provide a sense of normalcy and stability. Set specific work hours, take regular breaks, and create boundaries between work and personal life.

I agree! Thank you for this. It might help me if ever I will work remotely or work from home someday!
